Attending DCE 2010
Published May 30, 2010
I was in the airport this afternoon to get my ticket for July 23-26, 2010 because I’m attending the Davao Cyber Expo or DCE. It’s a computer expo where the best computers or rigs are displayed to the public. Aside from the computer being displayed, there will be competitions and tournaments (Defense of the Ancients, Call of Duty 4 & 5, Dirt 2), giveaways, product introductions, etc. The event will be held in the SM Entertainment Center in SM City Davao.
Anything can happen on that 3-day event: theft, malfunctions, or whatnot. There will be security provided but it would be best to have someone you trust to keep an eye on your belongings.
After getting my ticket, my mom went to the spa for nail cleaning and foot massage. Since the process would take longer, I went strolling around the airport. Well, outside since a ticket and a valid ID are required to go further to the airport. I finally settled to an empty bench and watched some people going to the pre-departure area to check-in to their flight.
I can’t help but notice that it’s inevitable for some not to cry. You will indeed leave your family behind for greener pasture outside the country. It’s a sacrifice most Overseas Filipino Workers make in order to help their family.
An example of which is a husband leaving to Manila at 6 in the evening. I didn’t know until I noticed that the couple hugged each other while crying. I have nothing against it but it shows that we, Filipinos, are family-first. Well, God first, family second.
My mom and I left the airport at 5:30 in the afternoon. I can see that inside the airport: emotions, frustrations, and hassles are there; confined in the four corners of that airport.
