Camotes Island 2026

I finally returned to the beautiful place called Camotes Island. I always refer the island as my timeout place whenever I’m super stressed from the city life. It’s majestic, blissful, and calm. I’d always think the challenges of having a stable internet connection is the island’s way of saying, “You need to take a break from the city life and enjoy the island life.”

The Camotes Islands are a group of islands in the Camotes Sea, Philippines. The island group is located east of Cebu island, southwest of Leyte island, and north of Bohol island. From Ponson Island (where Pilar is located) to southern Leyte is about 7.2 kilometers (4.5 miles). From Consuelo port to Danao is 32 kilometers (20 miles) and from south of Pacijan Island (where Santiago, Unidos, and San Francisco is located) to Bohol is 47 kilometers (29 miles).

Aside from visiting the island, I also attended the family reunion on my mother’s side. I also took advantage where I get clarity of the names on the family tree and any updates who got married, who had kids, and who had passed away.

I had fun, to be honest. Meeting my cousins, whom most I’m not close personally, to meeting other cousins who never joined the family reunion before. After the reunion, I was detemined to map out who the cousins are with the help of my uncle and mom.

Camotes Island is part of the Cebu Province and accessing it is usually from Danao City (north of Cebu) to Consuelo via Jomalia ferry. Although you can also access the island from Liloan to Poro via Super Shuttle ferry.
